Symptom guide

Why is my AC not starting?

An AC may not start because of remote or timer settings, lost power, a tripped protective device, loose supply connections, sensor or control faults, failed fan or capacitor components, communication trouble or compressor protection. Do not repeatedly reset the breaker. Confirm basic power and remote settings safely, then request diagnosis.

Understand the symptom

AC Not Starting.
Start with evidence.

The phrase ‘not starting’ can mean no lights at all, indoor fan only, a displayed code, outdoor unit not starting or immediate shutdown. Tell us which stage fails and whether the issue followed a power cut, cleaning, long storage or unusual sound.

Possible causes

Several faults can
look the same.

This list is general guidance. The actual cause is confirmed only after the AC is inspected.

01

Remote battery, timer, mode or command issue

02

No supply, isolator issue or tripped MCB

03

Control-board, sensor or communication fault

04

Fan, capacitor, relay or compressor-start problem

05

Protection after abnormal voltage, temperature or pressure

Safe first checks

What you can do
without opening the AC.

  1. Replace remote batteries and verify mode, timer and display
  2. Check only the normal wall switch or breaker position without repeated resets
  3. Wait through the manufacturer’s normal restart delay after power returns
  4. Photograph any code or blinking indicator

What a visit may check

01

Identify the failed stage

Power, command response, indoor operation and outdoor operation are separated step by step.

02

Check controls and supply

Accessible protection, connection and communication behaviour are tested for the exact model.

03

Confirm component work

A capacitor, board, fan or compressor conclusion is made only after relevant measurements and inspection.

Direct answers

AC Not Starting,
explained clearly.

Use these answers to prepare useful information for diagnosis—not to open or repair the unit yourself.

Should I reset the AC MCB repeatedly?

No. A repeated trip can signal an electrical or component fault. Leave the unit off and arrange inspection.

Why does the indoor unit start but not the outdoor unit?

Normal delay, settings, wiring, communication, control, fan, compressor or protection conditions may be involved. Note the timing and any code.

Can a weak remote make the AC look faulty?

Yes, batteries or remote settings can prevent a command. Test basic remote function, but a non-responsive manual control or displayed fault still needs diagnosis.

Important

These symptoms and causes are general information, not a remote diagnosis. Do not open electrical or refrigerant panels. Parts, refrigerant work, price and repair time are confirmed only after inspection.
